What is NAAS rating ?
The NAAS rating system is used by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) to rank and rank scientific journals in the field of agriculture based on overall quality, impact and relevance.
The NAAS score is between 1 and 10, with higher scores indicating better quality and impact. The score is based on a number of criteria, including journal scope and coverage, editorial quality, review process, relevance to the farming community, citation validity and overall visibility and reputation of the field.
The NAAS rating system is widely used by researchers, academic institutions and funding agencies to assess the quality and impact of scientific journals in agriculture and related fields. It helps researchers identify high-quality journals to publish in and provides a benchmark for assessing the research performance of individuals and institutions in agriculture.
Why is NAAS rating important
NAAS rating helps in identifying those journals that are not publishing quality articles consistently and the NAAS helps in identifying the predatory journals that will take money to publish articles without any scientific quality.
How to identify predatory journals
Predatory journals often mimic popular well known journals and may use its name to mislead individuals to pay money to publish their articles in these journals. Predatory journals can also be those journals which couldn’t meet minimum standards with regards to quality of articles being published and have scores well below minimum standards.
